The guests then bid on the bags, having no idea what each one contains, and the winner of each lot then reveals what they've won. You can pick up a whole range of Halloween party-bag treats from supermarkets, or maybe pick up some naughtier presents from adult joke shops!
CANDY BRAINS CATCH
Buy some plastic pumpkin treat bowls from your local supermarket, and attache each to either elastic of velcro long enough to fit around a person's head. You will also need a whole load of sweets.
Separate your guests into teams, with one person in each team nominated as the catcher (or, in reality, the target!) Strap the pumpkin onto their head, with the elastic or velcro fastened under their chin. The rest of their team then throw the sweets, from a designated distance, trying to get them into the pumpkin. Whichever team ends up with the most sweets in the pumpkin wins.
Half fill ten empty drinks bottles with water to weight them down, and decorate them with Halloween items. Lay them out in a ten-pin bowling format. Use a pumpking as the bowling ball. If you choose a nicely uneven one the game will become much more challenging as the pumpkin rolls around everywhere except where you want it to go!
BLIND-MAN AUCTION
As your guests arrive, supply them with Monopoly money (or even make your own Halloween-themed currency!) During the evening, reveal a range of bags with various prizes hidden inside.
If you don't mind tidying up afterwards, why not make it even more exciting either by blindfolding your catcher, or allowing the throwers to throw things like jelly, eggs or tomatoes! (Might want to take that one outdoors though!)
HALLOWEEN FILM FESTIVAL
You'll have to give your guests a bit of notice for this one: get guests to film short (5-10 mins) movies in the style of the Blair Witch. They may be humorous or scary, but wobbly camera work is a must! Show the films and decide on the winner. Perhaps you could even have some teary acceptance speeches for a number of film awards.
You will need a large bowl for this game, you can probably pick up a great Halloween one from your local supermarket.
Sprinkle some jelly worm sweets into the bottom of the bowl and then fill the rest of the bowl with whipped cream, sprinkiling worms at different levels throughout. Then get your guests to retrieve as many worms as they can - without using their hands!
MUMMY WRAP
You will need to arm yourself with lots and lots of cheap toilet paper for this one! Split your guests into teams. Each team nominates one person to be the Mummy. Each team has to wrap their Mummy in toilet paper, and whichever team finishes first wins a prize.
These are just a few examples to get you started, why not tell us your ideas for great party games?
